Frequently Asked Questions
about your boudoir photo session

Like most of my clients, you are probably both excited and hesitant about doing a boudoir session. Let me answer everything you want to know before you say yes.

Before you book

Is boudoir photography really for me?

Yes. Full stop. Boudoir is not reserved for a certain size, age, or chapter of life. It is for the woman who is ready to be seen, even if ready feels like a stretch right now. You will never be expected to know how to pose or move your body. I offer gentle, precise guidance throughout the entire session, including how to place your hands, shift your weight, soften your expression, and breathe into the moment. Every pose is adjusted to your body, not the other way around.

Do I need to be confident to do a boudoir session?

Not at all. Most women arrive feeling nervous, unsure, or even convinced they are “not the boudoir type.” Confidence is not a prerequisite, but it grows during the session itself. My role is to guide you through every step, from posing to expression, so you never have to wonder what to do. You are supported, seen, and never rushed.

I don’t look like the women I see online. Is boudoir still for me?

Absolutely. Boudoir is not about fitting into a specific look, size, or age. It is about being photographed as you are, with intention and care. Every body carries its own beauty, strength, and story. My approach honors that without forcing you into poses, outfits, or expectations that don’t feel aligned.

I’m curvy or plus-size. Do you photograph women like me?

Yes, often and with great intention. Curvy and plus-size women are not an exception in my studio. I pose in ways that honor your shape, highlight natural lines, and create images that feel strong, sensual, and grounded. You will never be asked to hide your body. Instead, we focus on angles, movement, and connection that feel authentic and affirming.

Why do women choose to do a boudoir session?

Women come for many reasons: marking a milestone, reclaiming themselves after change, or simply wanting to see themselves full of joy and confidence. What they often leave with is more than photographs. They leave with a deeper sense of ownership over how they show up and how they see themselves.

Preparing for your session

What happens before my session?

We talk. Not a questionnaire, a real conversation. I want to know your story, what brought you here, what makes you nervous, and what you are hoping to feel. I work with the five senses to help you find the emotions you are reaching for. This conversation lays the foundation as we prepare for a session that honors you.

What should I wear for my boudoir session?

You will receive guidance before your session to help you choose pieces that feel comfortable, supportive, and aligned with how you want to feel. Many women bring a mix of lingerie, soft fabrics, layers, or meaningful personal items. You do not need to own expensive lingerie. What matters most is how the pieces fit and how you feel in them.

Do you offer hair and makeup?

Yes. Professional hair and makeup are included in every session. Your look is tailored to you, your face, your features, and your energy on that day. This hour is also where the nerves start to relax. By the time we move into the studio you are ready and excited for your experience.

Can I bring a friend for support?

This session is just for you. While it might seem comforting to have someone there, the magic of this experience comes alive by trusting my guidance to help you feel each moment.

During your session

Will you tell me how to pose?

Every single step of the way. You will never be expected to know what to do with your hands, how to position your body, or what expression to make. I offer clear, gentle guidance throughout the entire session and will often demonstrate the pose myself. Every pose is adapted to your body, not the other way around.

What if I freeze or feel uncomfortable?

We slow down. There is no timeline to meet and no pressure to push through anything that does not feel right. The session moves at your pace. Most women find that the discomfort passes faster than they expected, but if it does not, we adjust. Your comfort is always the priority.

What if I don’t like certain parts of my body?

That is more common than you might think, and it is always handled with respect. Before your session, we talk about any concerns you have, and I photograph you with that awareness in mind. The goal is not to fix you, but to create images that allow you to see yourself differently and more kindly.

How private is studio?

Completely. Your session takes place in my private Lancaster studio with no other clients present. It is a warm, unhurried space designed to feel safe and focused entirely on you.

Your images & investment

How much does a boudoir session cost?

Your session fee is $490 and covers your full day including the pre-session planning conversation, professional hair and makeup, your portrait session, and your Private Viewing.

Collections begin at $1,500 and are chosen at your Private Viewing when you have seen your images and know exactly what you want. We offer luxury albums, framed wall art, and digital downloads in collections. Many women choose to prepay toward their base collection before their session day, which makes the viewing feel like a celebration rather than a decision.

What happens at my Private Viewing?

One to two weeks after your session we meet over Zoom for your Private Viewing. We look through your images together. You get to relive the experience in your own home, and choose the collection that feels just right.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Prepayment options towards a collection are available and encouraged so you can enjoy the experience without unnecessary stress. Details are shared during the booking process.

Will my images ever be shared publicly?

Your privacy is deeply respected. Your images are never shared without your explicit permission. You are in full control over how and if your photographs are used.

How are my images retouched?

You let me know how much retouching you prefer. In general, my retouching honors your skin, your lines, and your features without erasing what makes you real. Your images will reflect a seen, celebrated, beautifully lit version of yourself.
